Maya Angelou died on May 28, 2014 at the age of 86. Activist, Poet, Healer, Believer…all those words offer but a glimpse into what she was and still is to so many.

I believe that each of us comes from the creator trailing wisps of glory.

We all have a place here, and we all have a purpose. Use your time here to shine in the glory of His love.

I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

Many of us live on the fringes…we have passions that so many cannot understand. The movies, the games, the comics. These stories and characters make us feel, and provide an escape. That indescribable joy.

You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.

Maya Angelou was molested as a child, and when her molester was killed she did not speak for five years. Some of us have been ridiculed, bullied, and abused for being different. Even so the decision has been made to not allow those events to dictate the future. It does not diminish us, but only makes us stronger.

Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.

Dr. Angelou will be sorely missed, but her legacy lives on in word and on film. If you are not familiar with her work, take the time to research the woman whose life was important to so many.
