The Dish on Disney

Dish on Disney News Blog

So, Disneyland has increased the ticket prices twice this year, and some of the tickets are over $200.00. There are five tiers of this year ticket increases depending on the day that you go:

  1. 1-day 1 park: $104 1-day Park Hopper: $159
  2. 1-day 1 park: $114, 1-day park hopper: $169
  3. 1-day 1 park: $124, 1-day park hopper: $179
  4. 1-day 1 park: $139, 1-day park hopper: $194
  5. 1-day 1 park: $154, 1-day park hopper: $209

On the Disneyland website calendar and it tells you how much each ticket cost. So, for instance, on the 25th of May, the one park per day ticket will cost $154. On the 26th and the 27th of May, it will cost $114. And on the 28th, that one park per day ticket will cost $124. Clearly, the park hopper tickets are more expensive than the one a day tickets. It’s a lot of money to spend, but not as much as the park hopper ticket. Now there is a general theme of this year’s ticket price increase. In some case, some tickets didn’t increase at all. For example, for 1 day 1 park, last year was $104 and this year is still $104 and that’s great news! Look at the annual pass holder ticket prices though. Oh boy! The 2-day, 1 park last year was $225 and this year is $235. From 2015 to this year, the signature annual pass holder increased from $799 to $1,449. It was up by $650 and on an 83% jump! I wonder if they might have increased the price tickets and annual pass holders because they think it will be too crowded when Avengers Campus opens. When people can’t afford to go to Disneyland, it makes the parks not too busy.

Okay, let’s talk about the Rise of the Resistance boarding passes and how you can get them. In order to get a boarding pass, you have to be in the park at 8:00 or 9:00 no matter what time the park opens. Let’s say you should be there at least 30-35 minutes early. You don’t have to be there super early, but just make sure you’re in the park by 8 or 9 depending on the magic morning as well. You do not need a max pass, but you need a Disneyland App. You also need to be scanned into Disneyland not Disney California Adventure. If you have more than 1 person in your party, have all of those tickets or annual passes scanned into one person’s app and have that person represent all of you when booking a boarding pass. This will assure that everyone gets in the same time and in a same group. Have the app launched already, but don’t go into rise module. It’s just the front page of the app, stand the front page and when the clock strikes 8:00 or 9:00, hit the find out button and it will start the process of getting a boarding pass. Also If you enter Rise of the Resistance module before 8 or 9am and stay in there afterwards, it will not work. The passes are in order. The lower number you have, the earlier you’re going to go. It will depend on the ride working or breaking down and 1-72 is a good number group to be in line. When your boarding group is called, the app is set up so that it will send you a notification once your group is called. You can also monitor how things are moving along on the app. It regularly updates with which group is ready, a ticket for your ride will appear on the app for a cast member to scan. According to the cast members, when this ride breaks down while you’re in line and you decide to leave, your long-awaited spot is forfeited. Once you receive a notification, you have two hours to physically get in line for Rise of Resistance.

In other Disney news… Due to the coronavirus, The Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo Disneyland are closed. I heard that Tokyo Disneyland will open back up on March 16th. I heard that there was a small fire at Disneyland on the Main Street next to the Fire Department. They put it out and everyone was safe. They had to shut down Adventure land as the power went out. The fire was right behind the Jungle Cruise which that it made it dark. Autopia and Monsters Inc now have fast passes! The fast pass for Autopia is really good because it only takes about 5 minutes to get on. For the Monsters Inc fast pass, it might be a little problem because like Radiator Springs Racers, those passes go quick.

Now for makeovers and refurbishments. Did you hear that Tomorrowland is getting a makeover? I heard that they are shutting almost everything down except for Space Mountain and Astro Orbiter. They have already added the new plants and the bright blue walls on the sides of Astros Blasters and Star Tours along with the new entrance. Also, along with Avengers Campus, the Stun animatronic Spiderman is going to be swinging from the crane of the building. They are three stages of cranes on each side. The Pledge, Turn, and the Prestige. The Pledge will let Spiderman swing across the roof tops before going back stage. Spiderman will be doing his normal iconic poses. Once he leaves frame, the stunt animatronic Spidey will get launched from back stage and up and over the crane again. As for the Magic Happens Parade at Disneyland Park, It made its debut on February 28th and it had awesome characters such as Mickey Mouse and Friends, Moana, Coco, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Frozen 2, Princess and the Frog, and Sword in the Stone. The Haunted Mansion ride closed down on January 21st for its refurbishment. It will have new upgrades on the inside and the outside along with some new painting. This ride might be open sometime in the Spring I heard. Also, on the 21st, The King Arthur Carousel closed down as well for its new painting refurbishment. I think this ride will open somewhere in May. The Indiana Jones ride is also closing at some point, but right now, it’s been put on hold because of its 25th anniversary. We don’t know when it will close, but what I heard is that they might be doing something to the bridge. Finally, one of our favorite rides at Fantasyland, Snow White, closed on January 7th. It will feature a new happy ending with Snow White waking up with her animals. It will also include new scenes, music, lasers, black lighting, and some new technology. Its building has changed from white to a yellow and brown building which I think is pretty cool. I heard also that they might try to connect that to Sleeping Beauty Castle somehow! I expect Snow White to be open when I go back in May.
